Mark Thomas

Originally from St. Louis, MO, Mark lives and works in Nashville TN as a musician, music director, singer/songwriter, solo piano artist and actor.
Mark, who holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music, has taught in the music departments of four universities and currently maintains a private piano and voice studio.
Thomas’ professional credits include Sophie’s Theater (NYC, Off-Broadway), Actors Theatre of Louisville, StageOne Theater, Louisville, the Sunday Mornin’ Country Show at the Opry House, as well as the Kentucky Opera, Nashville Opera and various dinner theaters. He also plays keys in the band of Grammy Award winning country artist, John Berry.
A prolific songwriter, Thomas performs regularly at the Bluebird Cafe. As composer and lyricist, he collaborated with Katherine and David Paterson (of Bridge to Terabithia fame) in creating the new bluegrass musical, Come Sing Jimmy Jo, which premiered at StageOne Theatre, Louisville,KY.
Mark is grateful to his banjo-pickin’ Dad for providing the bluegrass soundtrack to his childhood and to his Mom for signing him up for those piano lessons against his wishes! He has truly enjoyed working with this talented cast and crew and knows that you will enjoy the exciting music and story of Smoke!
