Galen Fott*

Galen Fott is thrilled to return in the role of Dr. Amoss, which he played in the four most recent productions of Smoke. (He also appeared in Smoke as Owen Hartley in 2015.) In the Nashville area, Galen was most recently seen as Monsieur Dauphin in The Jonah People with the Nashville Symphony. Other recent roles include Burl Sanders in Smoke on the Mountain (Studio Tenn), Father in Ragtime (Nashville Rep), King Triton and Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid (Nashville Children’s Theatre), Torvald in A Doll’s House, Part 2 (Nashville Rep), Mr. Mister in The Cradle Will Rock (Nashville Opera), Daddy Warbucks in Annie (Chaffin’s Barn), and Leontes in The Winter’s Tale (Nashville Shakespeare Festival). Later in this season, Galen will appear in A Christmas Carol and Indecent with Nashville Rep. In 1991, he originated the role of Gaston in the still-running Beauty and the Beast stage show at Walt Disney World. Other performing highlights include the national tour of Mame starring Juliet Prowse, singing at Carnegie Hall, and with Houston Grand Opera. In his other career as a film director and animator, Galen has adapted over two dozen children’s books into award-winning films for Scholastic/Weston Woods. Other animation clients have included Sesame Workshop, NPT, The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Kroger, Vooks, Trace Adkins, and Dollywood. As a puppeteer, Galen has performed with the Jim Henson Company. And in a previous life, he co-authored eight books on computer graphics and was a contributing editor to PC Magazine.
